Michael de Acevedo is a practitioner and coach of combat sports and martial arts such as Western boxing, Thai Kick boxing, Combat Submission Wrestling, Shoot Wrestling, Jun Fan /Jeet Kune Do and Kali/Filipino martial arts, with more than 20 years of experience. He’s also a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Greg Nelson and Robin Gracie.

 

His education in martial arts began at 9 years old in the sport of Judo and later on in Tae Kwon Do. In the late fall of 1992, Michael found himself in The Minnesota Martial Arts Academy (now known as The Academy MN), trained and coached mainly by Greg Nelson, David Leitch and Ed Markey.
Michael has also had the privilege of training at the Minnesota Kali Group, instructed by Rick Faye.

At 18 years of age, Michael was awarded his Apprentice instructorship for Jun Fan JKD and Filipino Martial Arts under Guru Dan Inosanto.
Michael also holds a Coach Level 1 instructorship in Combat Submission Wrestling under both Erik Paulson and Greg Nelson and to date is the only instructor to do so in Spain.

Apart from his wealth of martial arts knowledge, Michael has an ample amount of actual competition experience in both amateur boxing and amateur and professional Muay Thai. Also Michael has trained directly with the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy's Fighers and Champions such as Sean Sherk and Dave Menne. Michael de Acevedo is known for being one of the most complete instructors out of The Academy (formerly known Minnesota Martial Arts Academy).

 

Michael is also a certified Kettlebell instructor, coached and approved by -

  • World Champion Valery Fedorenko (Head Coach of the American Kettlebell Club) 2007 -

  • World renown Steve Cotter (President of the International Kettlebell and Fitness Federation) 2008 – 2009

  • Pavel Tsatsouline (Chief instructor of the Russian Kettlebell Challenge) 2006

 

Michael combines his knowledge as a martial artist, athlete and personal trainer to consult, design and supervise programs for anyone, be they general individuals or professionals, that take their health and training seriously.
